BUTOH MINIATURA
BUTOH MINIATURE
AGRFT (SI)
Izvajalci/Performed by: študentje AGRFT/students of the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television
Mentorica/Mentor: Tanja Zgonc
Created independently by the students of AGRFT, Butoh Miniatures are short compositions based on the methodology of butoh and thematically drawing on selected texts or literary characters.
As a dance-focused art movement, Butoh developed out of a creative interaction of two charismatic Japanese dancers, Tatsumi Hijikata (1928-1986) and Kazuo Ohno (1906-2010). It could be said that butoh emerged from a unique fusion of the elements of traditional Japanese and European dance-theatre expressions.
The mentor Tanja Zgonc became involved in the art of butoh 24 years ago, when she became member of the Kölnu-based Ko Murobushi’s group International Butoh Dance Company. With a fine-tuned transformation of different dance techniques and movement methods and a persistent investigation of butoh, Zgonc has developed her own system and principles of movement, focusing especially on the back and spine.
