Sodobni ples? Kako, prosim? Kaj nam bo to!?
Ja, prav sodobni ples, ena najbolj norih umetniških zvrsti!
Sodobni ples? Na robu države!?
Ja. V Murski Soboti! Spet.

The Ninth Front@ - The Fight Continues
In the time of the preparations for this year’s festival, the companies in the city and the surroundings are declaring bankruptcy. A company, once the most important employer, is (again) thrown into bankruptcy. Hundreds of people are without “bread”.
Contemporary dance? Excuse me? Whatever for!?
Yes, precisely contemporary dance, one of the craziest art genres!
Trying circumstances demand courage, which should be maintained precisely in the creative areas. Unfortunately, what cuts ice nowadays is the courage that is responsible for unethical behaviour and makes people’s lives miserable. That’s why fighting for the part of our lives that makes us human is all the more important. To allow as many people as possible to see the exceptional artistic achievements presented at the festival, we have decided to offer tickets at a symbolic price. Since art is not free, but also not in vain, we set the price of one euro per ticket, although the audience are at liberty to contribute more if they can and if they think that our festival and the achievements of the guest artists are worth supporting. The performances of this year’s festival touch strongly on the described state of affairs and thematise: Borderline, boundaries, limits, Staff, interrelations in collectives, and “same, difference, again”, making decisions in hopeless situations. In the selected performances, the artists approach these themes from a very original point of view, thus enabling us to observe and consider the roots of our own predicament.
The future, however, is not necessarily bleak as the circumstances suggest. We can see this in the exceptional creativity of young dancers, in the selection of dance miniatures OPUS 1. The presentations of dance schools and academies also surpass their usual programme. The students will present their work in four pieces choreographed by acclaimed choreographers.
We have invited over 100 dancers, choreographers, pedagogues, theoreticians and programmers from Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Spain and Slovenia.
While we hardly warded off attempts of cancelling the festival.
Contemporary dance? At the periphery!?
Yes. In Murska Sobota! Again.
